Sharing Your 3 Minutes of Power

By: Missionary Team

Many people wonder how they can share their faith with other people. We’ve all been there. We don’t want to be “Mr. Goody-Two-Shoes” and we are afraid of people shutting us out or judging us. But what if I told you there was a way to share what you believe and to help people, without them thinking of you as the preacher's kid? Guess what? There is. Here at Hard as Nails, we have something called the 3 Minutes of Power. The 3 Minutes of Power is your personal testimony in 3 minutes.

Minute 1: The greatest challenge you’ve ever faced
Minute 2: The Moment that God got you through it
Minute 3: What you are thankful for and what you need to change

Many times when someone tells their personal stories, it can be a long-winded saga about their challenges, and then at the very end they say “And then Jesus saved my life and I was changed forever”. The problem with this is that it doesn’t give many practical tools, and focuses on the struggle more than the hope. We are people of hope! So we focus the last two minutes on tools of how to get through a challenge and hope to be grateful. Now don’t run away. I know sharing your greatest struggle is scary but hear me out for a second. Before you say no and run, let’s think about why you share your story. You don’t share it for you, you share to help someone suffering. You never know who you can help through being courageous and sharing a struggle you’ve been through. Maybe your greatest struggle was being bullied, and you might be surprised how many people will say to you, “Really? Me too”. And with those three words, C. S. Lewis says friendship is born. Your story can bring friendship to the friendless. You can show someone that they are not alone in their suffering, and it is one of the greatest gifts that you can give someone. Everyone suffers in their lives. The hardest part of their suffering is when they suffer alone. It doesn’t have to be like that anymore.

“Friendship ... is born at the moment when one man says to another "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .” ― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

Remembering to be grateful for our challenges is so important! Being thankful for how they help others and draw us closer to one another helps to not become or stay depressed. I know from experience that it is not easy, but it is helpful. Don’t forget about working on what you need to change. This step helps keep us humble and to remember that we aren’t greater than anyone, or more holy than them. We are human, we struggle, and if we aren’t striving to improve, then we are staying in the same place or falling backwards. Staying put is the worst of all.

This is a new generation, you can be the change and hope in this world! It starts with you. You will lead the way and shape the future. You have the power to change the world. I believe that if every person shared their 3 minutes of power once a day, it could change the world! So go and make our future, and the future of those after us, brighter.
