Living Victorious

By:  Justin Fatica March 29, 2021

As Easter is quickly approaching, I have been reflecting a lot on what it means to live victoriously. This word itself speaks life, truth, and freedom. We are all called to be victors, but how do we live victory out in a world that is full of discouragement? The key is that when we know we are valuable, we have victory! When we know that we belong to God, and we are His alone, then we can truly see our value and live victoriously.

Deuteronomy 20:4 tells us “For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” We don’t have to do anything on our own to be victorious. God will be the one to give us the victory. Every. Single. Time.

So often, we live in defeat, not recognizing that we are called to be a people of victory. This past week, I was running our weekly prayer workout with our missionary team. (Learn more about the missionary program here!) As we worked out for people suffering, I shared this message of victory, that we need to hold our heads high, not hang them in defeat.

After the workout, the missionaries shared about how this was relevant to them. I share this with you, because I believe that these young people can encourage you. Maybe you relate to what they have to say about victory.

  • I am victorious when I love without looking to gain anything.
  • Victory comes with taking action, it doesn’t come with complacency or mediocrity.
  • Victory is a choice. I need to repeat that choice until I live in victory. I already have victory if I really want it.
  • The victory isn’t mine, it’s from Christ. Sometimes I don’t see the victory, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not there, because Christ still takes my effort and turns it into victory.
  • Victory isn’t waking up and realizing your problems are gone it’s waking up every day and knowing that no matter what comes that day you will have victory because you have Christ on your side.
  • Sometimes the best way to realize your victory in your life is when you share your struggles and victories with others and they share theirs with you. It’s about community! I am not victorious on my own, I am a part of a community of victors.
  • I can be victorious without having ability. My victory doesn’t come from me, it comes from the one who created me.
  • Whatever struggle I face, big or small, there is victory at the end of it, I just have to hold onto that truth.
  • We are victorious because the world thinks we should be victims.

Wow! There is so much power in the cross of Christ, and his ability to make us victors! He wants to constantly heal us and transform us. He desires our hearts and our total surrender to him.

Take Action:

Write down what God is speaking to you about victory in your life from reading this blog. Put it on a post it note and place it where you will see it throughout this upcoming Holy Week and Easter Season.

Pray:

Lord, help me to claim your victory in every area of my life. I surrender to you this Holy Week, and I ask you to heal me of my self-doubt and defeated mindset. I give my life over to you. Help me to suffer like you and to be victorious like you. Amen.
