ABC=Always be Communicating! It is a phrase that seems so simple but has so much importance to it. Life gets crazy, and it seems we can get caught up in the chaos to where it starts to affect our spirits. When our spirits begin to get down, it is best for us to communicate how we are so our team or community of people that surround us, can be able to support us through communication.

When you are on a team working with a group of people, it is important to communicate everything. In the bigger picture, when one is struggling, everyone tends to start struggling, because it is a domino effect, and that is where communication can come into play. An example of this is a story from our travels on tour. We were on our south tour on our way to Jacksonville, FL. We had just arrived at our host home for the night in Simpsonville, SC.

She was so sweet and welcoming, she had all our beds made with nice welcome letters waiting for us on our pillows. I at the time was in charge of organizing and running the media, so with-it being Thursday, I had to check and make sure that Facebook Live had properly uploaded. So, I went on my phone to check, when I saw on my lock screen a text from a friend informing me that a friend of ours from high school had passed away.

This completely wrecked me cause only a year before I had another friend of mine pass away. It seemed to be a theme forming in my life that put a crack in my spirit, and so the next day, I was not in a good place emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. In order for the team to still be successful in the mission, my obligation was to communicate to my teammates my current situation, so that they could be the best support to me and the work at hand. It took me awhile to communicate this, but once I did, things began to run smooth and I was getting the support that I needed.

All in all, communication is important so that things are able to get done and people are supported in the ways they need to be supported. Without this, lets be real, life would be messier than it already is; but with support from our communities, we can achieve anything together. One of my favorite quotes is one that comes from Lilo and Stich, “Ohana means family; Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”

When one is struggling, we need to be there for them more than ever, because that is our baptismal calling as brothers and sisters in Christ. We are all united as one through our Heavenly Father, which makes a family united in the church, and we need to be dedicated to this because no one should be left behind or ever forgotten by someone in their family.
