Straight up, I’m not good at a lot of things. However, one thing that for some reason I was naturally gifted with is fashion. Now as a guy, society tells me that fashion is a girly thing. But in recent years, the boys have fought to get into this aspect of our culture. So, we have coined the term “drip”, which is defined as having swagger, especially in how you look. You're hot. You're cool. You're on point. You've got the sauce.
This might sound exceedingly vain of me, but I love to look good! Who doesn’t? When a good outfit comes together, when you match, or when you got on a brand-new pair of kicks, there is just something special about that feeling! I always notice an immediate confidence boost when I am wearing a new, fresh, or drippy outfit. But this poses a very important question: Is it sinful of me to always have drip? I mean there is no 11th commandment that says: “Thou shalt not possess too much drip”. However, it is explicitly defined by the church as “excessive pride in one’s appearance”. So, maybe we need to ask ourselves that question. Am I being excessive? Am I going too over the top? And to what end? Well, let’s dive into the ocean of drip and see!
Now say you evaluate yourself, and you aren’t idolizing your look or going over the top. That still leaves the question of to what end? How can you take something your love and are good at and use it for the end of glorifying Christ? To this I propose a simple answer: Invitation evangelization! Simply put, Invitation Evangelization is something we do here at Hard as Nails as a way of spreading the gospel. We invite others to a relationship with Jesus by finding commonality with them. Ahhhhhh! There it is: a commonality. Essentially this means a conversation starter. So, you can use shoes, an outfit, a nice chain, Jewelry, etc. to break the ice with someone! In my personal experience, it goes such a long way if I am wearing trendy brand shoes. Someone will see this and immediately think: “Oh I can talk to this person he has cool shoes”. They won’t be turned off as easily by me and will be more open to talking about Christ and receiving that invitation!
So, to answer the question, I think it’s safe to say yes! Jesus did indeed have a drip. After all, Jesus loved to evangelize! He did this by finding common ground with people and then inviting them somewhere! He would go to the synagogue (a place in common) and then invite people to follow Him! If Jesus was in modern-day society, it would be safe to say He would roll up to the basketball courts in a fresh pair of Jordans and invite them to follow Him. People would say yes much easier because He would have things in common with them. If you already have something in common with someone, you are much more likely to listen to them and trust them! So, what are you waiting for! Go throw on your favorite hat, your best shoes, a gold chain, and earrings, and go talk to some people! They’ll listen to you because of something surface level. Then when they start to trust and like you, spring the J word on them! Talk about Jesus! Show them you can have drip and live life abundantly with God.
