Get in the Wheelbarrow

Get in the Wheelbarrow

Faith is one of the most important things in anyone's life. For many people it is easy to get caught up in worldly things and it can cause a lot of problems and depression in many people's lives. Faith is something that is extremely lacking in today's society. In my life I struggled with having faith and trusting that everything will work out especially in the hard times, it was all too easy to get bogged down in the nitty gritty detail of my daily life and how monotonous everything was. I felt like nothing could ever get better. It wasn't until I started to have faith in myself and took more chances that my life actually started to improve.

The daredevil of Niagara Falls.
Once there was a man named Charles Blondin. Blondin was a world renowned tightropest. His most famous act was carrying various things and objects across Niagara Falls, With no tether or rope net beneath him. Large crowds would gather to watch and they always cheered him on trying to get him to do more and more dangerous stunts. He performed insane stunts such as walking across blindfolded, dangling from the rope by his hands and even at one point cooking an omelet in the middle of his journey across. Eventually, he appeared on the Canadian side of the Falls with a wheelbarrow. He tightrope walked across the Falls with over 200 pounds of bricks in the wheelbarrow. He was welcomed to the American side with thunderous applause and a crowd cheering encore. They all said they had complete faith in him and after that there was no way he could ever fall. Blondin then asked “if you're so confident in my abilities, get in the wheelbarrow and let me wheel you across”. No one would get in the wheelbarrow.

Having faith vs doing it
A quote I live by and that pertains to this is James 2:26 which says “ Faith without works is dead”. All the people in the crowd claimed to have faith in Blondin’s abilities, but when they were given a chance to prove their faith, they immediately backed down and their faith was snuffed out. It's easy to say one thing and then do another. If you're going to talk the talk you better be ready to walk the walk. This story is just one of many examples of people who say they have faith but have nothing to back it up, or they lose faith when something comes that might be too far out of their comfort zone. If you want to get out of a bad situation don't just have faith that things will miraculously get better but when you are given an opportunity to make your life better, take it, and have faith in yourself and God's plan that it is the right thing to do. We must trust that God can get us across the Niagara Falls in our lives. Now I’m not saying to risk physical harm for no reason like Blondin wanted one of his fans to do. But I am saying that we must have faith in our Heavenly Father and that He doesn't permit us to suffer without a reason or without a direction He wants us to go in. We must believe in that. When God comes to pick you up in a wheelbarrow, don't hesitate, have faith, and just get in it.
